From 1997 to 2017, Toyota's Japan-only luxury car, the Century, came with a V-12—Japan's only production V-12, actually. From the factory, it sounded like nothing—it had to be luxurious after all. This one is a bit different.

Effspot on YouTube, the owner of this Century, knew the 5.0-liter engine had potential, so he apparently dropped $18,000 for a custom exhaust on the car for his latest video. The result is a normal, standard-looking Century that sounds like a V-12-powered Ferrari Formula 1 car from the Nineties. You have to hear it for yourself to believe such a mundane car could sound so over-the-top.

This isn't the first time we've seen the effspot channel feature some expensive exhausts on big-engine luxury sedans. In September 2019 it showed off a V-12-powered Mercedes S-Class with an exhaust sourced from the same place, which makes an equally dramatic sound. Then, last month, it uploaded a video of a V-10 BMW M5 with a similar setup.

These setups might be wildly expensive, but considering the sounds they produce, we'd say it's worth the money.
